The Legal Aid Society helps people low-income citizens and senior citizens in the areas of family law, government benefits, housing, consumer rights, and senior citizen legal issues.
We do not charge for our services, but you may be required to pay certain court costs. If we refer you to a private attorney, there may be a low fee.
If we cannot help you with your problem, we will refer you to an agency, which may be more suitable to assist you.
The areas of service we cover include: Loss or denial of governmental benefits including OWF, food stamps, medicaid, medicare, Social Security, SSI and unemployment compensation cases. We handle evictions, foreclosures, lockouts, utility shutoffs, divorces, domestic violence, custody, visitation problems, consumer problems, garnishments, attachments, certain bankruptcies, wills and power of attorney for senior citizens.

| ELIGIBILITY |
Generally, potential clients must have income below 125% of the current official Federal Poverty Guideline or be at least 60 years old. The best way to find out if you are eligible for services is to call our office.

| The Legal Aid Society provides legal assistance in civil cases to low- income individuals who cannot afford to hire an attorney. We do not handle criminal cases or where you would have a right to an appointed attorney. |
